I'm sorry, you guys. I don't fill you in as much as I should (at least those of you who don't follow me on tumblr or are friends with me on Facebook). It seems like I've been neglecting my art, but I haven't. I just haven't gotten around to posting it all here.
As you may have seen, my friend has given me a tablet, which I'm still getting used to using. Personally, I've found it both easier and harder to use than pencil and paper, in ways that I won't enumerate here, but later. I've been using SAI too, and I think I've almost got the knack for it.
So what's been going on in my life? This past semester has been absolute hell. I hated it. I'm surprised my GPA was anywhere above a 3.0. I'm just glad I'm done with Japanese. Next semester, it's government and philosophy as far as the eye can see. I'm happy with that.
I recently (meaning as of the end of last spring semester) became the choral director for the UMD Gamer Symphony Orchestra. It's been a lot more taxing than I thought it would be, but it's been immensely rewarding. As an officer of the GSO, I had the opportunity to be a panelist for the GSO's panel at this year's MAGFest. Can I just say that MAGFest was literally the second-best convention experience I've ever had? It was amazing! We got to perform "The Promised Land" from Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children. Some really great voice actors were there, including John Patrick Lowrie (the voice of TF2's Sniper), who provided me my new ringtone! It was spectacular.
MAGFest would have been my No. 1 con experience, except I had to miss Sunday. Why was this so significant? I had decided, along with my ride there, that we would not attend Sunday, my personal reason being me getting rid of my bad habit of not attending Mass on the Sundays of cons (being a Catholic). As such, I decided to make the 12:00 PM Mass at the Basilica of the National Shrine of the Immaculate Conception. However, one of our chorus members got talking to some of the MAGFest coordinators, and they actually got a chance to perform "The Promised Land" again that day... FOR NOBUO UEMATSU! I'm sure you know who that is. It was doubly distressing because we didn't wake up in time for me to actually home and get ready for the 12:00 PM Mass! (I was staying at my friend's apartment in College Park, mind you.) I was truly distraught. I decided to go to the 4:30 PM Mass anyways, and fortunately, that calmed me down significantly. Luckily, I had attended his band's concert the previous night and had gotten him to sign the GSO's sheet music for "The Promised Land" which I will proudly hang on the wall of the GSO office.
Anyways, that's been my life. I promise to upload some art that I haven't yet shown you guys here on Thursday. See you all then.
